Great photo of a beautiful animal -- very, very nice. That animal is probably displaying some of the wolf heritage of eastern coyotes where they picked up the genes for a dark coat from hybridizing with Algonquin wolves. I have some camera trap videos taken in northcentral Pennsylvania of a black eastern coyote and his typically colored mate.
