My backyard sees a dreary range of mostly introduced birds. Until this ... a Brown Goshawk was on the grass stripping the feathers from a dove. The female Blackbird who regards it as her territory swooped it until it flew up into a gum with its prey. There it continued the stripping and the harassment continued until it got sick of it and decamped.
The Goshawk was small for a near-adult, only about the size of a pigeon.

Thanks Icarus.
Yes; it has some Collared Sparrowhawk characteristics, size for one, and one member of Facebook's ABID argues that's what it is.
