I first went to Death Valley in 2011 and knew next to nothing about photography: I remember asking why f/8? Later on, when I improved in photograph, I trashed most of the shots. I visited the valley again in January of this year and I think I did better this time around. I know a lot more about photography but it's been awhile since I've focused on landscape shots, in recent years I've done a lot more wildlife. I thought it would be good to get back in touch with the landscape. I did find it hard to compose compositions at many of the sites and I was surprised at how many I thought did actually turn out OK.

I'll say it looks like you've learned quite a bit. Very nice images. I especially like the second image.

I'd like to visit sometimes after the rains and when the flowering plants bloom. Also for a trip to Crowley overlook when the planes are flying.

Very nice shots. Love dunes and their patterns. I do like the looks of the barren eroded hills in and around the Artists palette and Zibriski, any shots there this trip? Love to see them if you did to see how you composed those. Surprisingly, Death Valley , to me, is very picturesque. Last there during superbloom, so its been awhile

Very good images and nice variety. I also like the last one in landscape orientation of the top third only....?

And here it is, color this time. I also just pulled out a portion and made a square shot and that seemed to work good, too. Such a beautiful dune.

Great job. Exemplifies Antonio Gaudi's quote: " There are no straight lines or right angles in nature." I find shooting these scenes like being in a school of fish, and have difficulty selecting a focal point or subject. You've done very well.
