I recently visited our local badger sett and was horrified to find these signs of badger baiting. Presumably the culprits were interrupted as they abandoned their tools. However there was better news for all but one of the badgers, as evidenced in my second post below.

My wife noticed fresh signs of activity last Friday. I saw five of them that evening and the following night obtained these images..
So happy to see their determined survival and continuing the life of the sett.

Thanks Dan. Yes… they are very determined, practical, never-give-up characters. And so it’s not surprising they’ve stayed in their dry house, on slope for easy digging with woodland and agricultural land in easy reach for food. Great faces, too!

Thinking the authorities should be called and the tools collected for fingerprints. Hate when people only see nature as something to be exploited.
Great shots of very elusive critters.

Thanks and yes, indeed! I took the above photos, took my map grid reference on a phone app and contacted the police. They later met me at the site and took the equipment away for forensic examination, subject to resources. I have had no further word from Police Scotland as yet.
