Did I missing something about Banks?

when I set the name for Shooting Menu Bank A, B, C, or D in Photo Shooting Menu. the name of the corresponding bank in the Video Recording Menu is also changed.

I would like to name by photo shooting banks something like Action, Portrait, Landscape/Macro, Night and my video banks 4K 24 FPS, 4K 60 FPS, ...

SeemsI need to name the banks Action / 4K 24 FPS, ....

DId I miss something, do I have some setting which causes the banks to have similar names?

Thanks

Nikon Photo shooting and Video shooting banks are not independent. There was some apparent confusion from Nikon Europe at the release of Z9 FW 5.0 that they had been made independent, but it was not so.

"Shooting menu banks can also be edited via the [Shooting menu bank] item in the video recording menu. Changes made in the photo shooting menu apply in the video recording menu and vice versa."

Making photo and video banks independent, as well as "sticky", is one of the things I hope Nikon addresses with the next Z8/Z9 generation of cameras.

You can still do that but just append that info to the shooting info. I have my banks like this for photos and video.

Bank A Point&Shoot/25p_60ss
Bank B Day Shoot/30p_60ss
Bank C Landscape/60p_120ss
Bank C PreCapture/120p_240

This way I can keep my ss locked (via g3) to the appropriate video frame rate. Hey, it works for me!

Yes, the photo shooting and video banks are linked. I do believe that they were initially going to be unlinked in 5.0. I think it was in the prerelease version of 5.0 but did not make it to the release version. If you watch some of the videos that demonstrated the features of FW 5.0 they mention the separation of the photo and video banks. It was listed as a feature on the Nikon USA website for awhile, then disappeared. I don't know what happened.

If you watch the video below at about the 3:30 mark, Ricci shows the feature.

Surprising that Nikon Europe has left this on YouTube.

It's possible they will release separate Shooting and Video banks in a minor update sooner than later, even though it missed the latest update.

They really need to separate photo and video stuff a little better. I’d like different iMenu and My Menu options as well when in video vs stills. It shouldn’t be too difficult to make those changes.

Yeah, in an abundance of caution, even after seeing videos like Ricci's posted above, I have Bank C devoted wholly to videography, and I make no changes to Bank C for stills. It does limit me a bit, but I'm fine with four setups. Would 8 be nice in the next firmware? Yep!

This was on the Nikon USA website for several days after the release of 5.0 and then it disappeared. I do think we will see it in a update fairly soon.

Yes, that became “Separate shooting modes now configurable for photo and video.” Who knows what happened? It might be made available in a firmware update or it might be held back until a Z9II is available. We’ll see.
