The area called Dolly Sods is like a wonderland, you know this for sure as you walk a few yards off of the gravel road. You see stunted trees with beautiful lichen on the trunks, there are several fern varieties and waxy leafed plant that turns variations of red in the fall. Walking is easy in many places, this photo, taken last week, Oct 5th, was one of many that I took. The temptation is to shoot as many as you can without taking time to think about your settings or even much time on composition. I was using a D850 with a 24-85 and polarizing filter. One of my main thoughts was to slow down and think of composition. Finding good compositions was harder than I expected but in my opinion the difference between success and failure.
