I open and save my .pdf learning documents in Word. Word will convert the document into an editable Word doc ( you have to say ok a couple of times) that you can highlight text and add comments on the side!

If you use Microsoft OneDrive (why not...it's free until you start saving all your edited photos on it and use up the free allotment!) you can click the auto-save button and keep all your notes and comments safe.

You learn more effectively by reading - writing -seeing (videos!) and then doing! Notice I left off "hearing". I am a College Professor (Marketing) and I sometimes wonder if students listen (or hear) what I say! There is no doubt that today's students like to learn primarily by watching a video! Which is hearing and seeing.

So, Thank you Steve for your great videos!

Interesting; I've never tried that.
Mainly because Adobe Reader offers the same capabilities - highlights and comments - directly in the PDF document.
I do that all the time, since I fully agree that reading and "engaging" with the content that way makes for effective learning.

I save my PDFs in Apple’s Books app. It works well for creating specific collections and obviously it is always accessible on your iPad, iPhone or Mac.

For people working with iPad there is a great App called GoodReader. Originally I got it as a PDF reader, but it allows to open all kinds of document including Office documents, provides annotation functions, hand drawings etc. and also enahced functions like syncing complete directory structures on your PC.
I have a library directory on my private and my job harddisk, where I collect manuals, books, magazines, norms nd all that kind of stuff and I just sync it with my iPad, so that I have it all with me even if I am offline - which I prefer when I am travelling instead of being connected to public networks, hotspots etc.
