Shot from our patio in Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island, around midnight a few nights ago. Qualicum sits at the same latitude as the US border so the Aurora is a rarity here, except the other night was KP5 after a recent major solar event. I like the layering from the clouds and the reflections off the Strait of Georgia. The orange tint close to the horizon is unusual, the lights are usually variations of neon green and purples. On this day I pointed the camera northeast and I believe the Aurora were being filtered through the smoke of the terrible fire in Jasper. Even though its 100s of km away the smoke would have risen several thousand feet and filtered the light show. All the best to the folks in Jasper now rebuilding from the fire.
