European Hornet

No, I didn't go to Europe to photograph this insect just out to our backyard. These became established in the northeast in the mid-1800s. European hornets are over an inch long but their sting is supposedly no worse than a honeybee -- I don't plan on finding out. :D They're really pretty, chestnut brown and yellow -- here's looking at ya --
