European kestrel flyby

A very common bird of prey around these parts, but this is probably one of the nicer shots I've gotten of one so far.

Judging by the "fluff" in its feathers; it's likely a young one that was born this year (a couple of nestboxes nearby, so quite feasible).

Great image. I see a lot of American Kestrels where I live. Interesting to see the difference between the Kestrels. Is this a male or female, the coloring of the American Kestrels is very different? This looks more like a female here.

Thanks Phil. Quite different looking indeed (same hardware with a different paintjob so to speak ).

This would be a female. The males have a silver/grey'ish head and a darker coloured tail.
