F-Mount/Z-Mount Snap-On Lens Cap Backward Compatibility?

Just received my Z 50 1.2 S & 135 Plena and was trying to track down an extra lens cap for them (82mm) just to have an extra on hand, just in case. Well seems that the replacement Z-mount cap is currently backordered in the usual places I shop.

Question: Anyone ever try using the older F-mount lens snap-on lens cap on their Z-mount lens? I found an 82mm Nikon cap for the F-mount and if it works fine then may get it. If not I'll just wait.

If you want the Z lens style cap, Roberts Camera has them in stock.

Front lens caps are fine from any source. They don't need to be Z lenses and can be any brand with the same filter size.

As a matter of routine, I carry a 77mm and 82mm replacement lens cap in my bag. I also a backup rear lens caps and backup body caps for both F and Z mounts. I consider these backup caps and covers to be supply items - it's something I may lose or someone in my group may lose - and it's extremely inconvenient if you don't have backups.

I buy backup items in 3 packs at Amazon. I buy generics. There are small differences between generics and OEM caps, but the cheaper generics are just fine and 1/3 the price or less.
