Fall Prairie Sunset in Kansas

Out scouting around for locations & wow, sometimes you just have to pull over & take a picture! Absolutely beautiful evening and setting. Thanks all, Bill

When I begin to think that there is nothing interesting to photograph here, it is a photo like this that slaps me back into the reality that simplicity is often the most beautiful of all things in the world. Beautiful shot, Bill!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful capture of the prairie. Where in Kansas was this taken? When I was young I spent some years in Lawrence at KU and in Wichita working for Beech Aircraft. Still have fond memories of my bicycle rides between Cassoday and Lawrence..

Jaap, this shot was captured close to the little town of Effingham, about 50 miles almost due north of Lawrence. Cassoday to Lawrence is a serious bike ride! Thank you for the compliment. I’ve been working on sunsets for a bit, quite happy to have finally gotten one. Thanks again, Bill

Beautiful image Bill. Did you use a filter for the sky? Love the sunburst.
Thank you Tom. No filter, single exposure, exposed for the sun & fired away. Then had to bring the shadows up from the foreground in post. I’ve been trying to get a good sunset for quite awhile & never really got it, but I’m pleased with how this one came out. I knew the composition was what I wanted, but the sunburst embarrassingly, was a pleasant surprise to me! Live, learn & shoot some more. It is fun especially when they work out. Thanks again, Bill
