As it was a hot month, the water in a nearby marsh-pond was almost parched. The swamphens tend to favor such locations with reeds for nesting. A feral dog saw this as an opportunity and jumped into the marsh grabbing this juv. as being an easy target. There was a group of about 12-15 adults from the same species screaming as loud as they could but all in vain as the dog got away with his breakfast. I have personally not seen this again nor did hear anyone witnessing such a scenario.
