I am looking to purchase a full frame camera in the next couple of months, I currently use D500 + 500mmpf but also want a FF camera I do mainly bird photography but any wildlife in general mornings and evenings so low light conditions really , the options I was looking at was the D4s, D5, or go mirrorless with the Z6ii . Many thanks for any advice .

I have the same problems after reducing kit . I usually carried two FX and the wife her DX but now I only have a D850 for the FX bird role. Do you really think a D4 or D5 has enough pixels for birds? In fact anyting 24 MP?
Personally I would go for D850 ..quite cheap grey.

24 mp is plenty.... it’s all about how you use them. If you crop massively then I can see your problem.
I use D500 and D810 for wildlife (depending on subject / distance / lens). For low light, particularly night, I still drag out the D600....knocked by many but quite under-rated.

The D5 is great for birds, especially in low light - as long as you don't need to crop too much. If you find yourself cropping the D500 or that its aways just enough, it may be an issue. You'll either need to be 1.5X closer or need 1.5X more lens than what you're using now.

Still, the D5 is wonderful for fast, low light work.

I'd sure suggest the D5 over the D4. D5 is an amazing camera, I used the 500 PF on mine, did not even touch the fine tune (same with the D6). Was smack on from the get go. Earlier was mentioned the D5 is a 24mp, it's basically (slight less) 21mp.
