I need to fill a Kenesis SafariSack 4.2 to support my Nikon D500/200-500mm lens whilst on a safari in India later this year. A suggestion has been made that I should buy rice when I arrive in the country and then dispose of it when I leave. However, there may not be the opportunity to do this as it's not a photo-safari and from what the travel agent has said the majority of the people in the tour group will be using the cameras on their mobile phones. I did read about a filling called Git-Lite. However, it's very expensive in the U.K for the quantity I need. Therefore I was thinking about buying buckwheat before I leave. The question is 'How much will I need?' The total weight of the camera and lens is about 7lbs. Suggestions as to quantity needed or other fillings I might consider would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I know nothing really, but don't some areas restrict bringing agricultural products of any kind in?

I use buckwheat hulls to fill my beanbag. Very light weight for travel. Amazon has an assortment of bags to buy.
You could get a 3 pound bag of them and that should be plenty for filling the Kinesis SafariSack.
