Gavin: There is a viewing area at Cape Disappointment State Park that allows you to get within 20-30 yds of the water and small bay at the base of the cliffs that the waves come into. The Lighthouse being at the top of the cliffs is an added bonus. The issue is logs have been washed in and are piled up and you need to position yourself so you can shoot over the logs. In addition you really need to pay attention to the waves they can come in and roll those logs that you are standing next to into the viewing area that you are in.

Thank you. Please see my reply to Gavin, you have to be very aware of the waves all the time. A sneaker wave can come in and be very dangerous. I do keep a rain cover on the camera and lens, mostly for the mist coming of of the waves.
