Firmware Nikon Z8

Hi Steve,

If I´m not mistaken, I read here or saw it in one of your videos that the Z8 camera you got has the firmware version 1.05.
I just got mine delivered today (in Europe) and its firmware version is 1.00
I checked the Nikon download center and there is no firmware update available for the Z8.
Is the 1.05 for US only or is it a kind of demo version?
This version 1.00 looks like it has more options in the setup and photoshoot menus than the ones you spoke (in the video) or you wrote in your book and I´m not referring to the ones you intentionally skipped due to the fact that are irrelevant for wildlife and raw shooting...
What can you tell about this? :)

I saw Steve responded this question on an other thread (don't remember which one).
FW 1.05 was on it's pre release Z8. It is not on sold Z8 for now.
And there's only one difference, I don't remember which one (one not too much important to operate camera thing more in FW1.05 - more response curves or something like this).

I would expect the other way around.... 1.00 as pre-release and something like 1.05 as released fw version :)

1.05 would be a later version, but it likely had not gone through testing and may have additional changes, adjustments, or bug fixes. With a small sample for pre-production it may be fine. I heard that there were some specific changes planned for a Z8 firmware update in the near future. They could have a pre-release firmware for pre-production cameras that is a placeholder with some modest changes, but not yet the full update for that release.

I went through the book and couldn't find that note.... :oops:
Then I realized that Steve published a newer version of its book. I´ve been reading the 1.2.0 and there is already the 1.2.2
Normally Steve sends out an email every time there are updates to his books but, he missed this one :)

Yeah, I got the email notif for the version 1.2.0 but not for the 1.2.2 not even in the spam folder. Anyway, this is a very minor thing.
I believe Steve is some how overwhelmed with the Z8 testing (as I am configuring it), he also missed the pdf file name that doesn't match the book title... sorry Steve but in a respectful way I need to write this: "aging" :LOL:
