Oh no! That's one of Steve's Secrets to Stunning Wildlife Photography no, no's...cutting off body parts at joints. Because of that, I like the second one much better. Great subjects.

One of those Gestalt things. We want to know where vertical lines are anchored, we don't mind as much for horizontal lines.Thank you for the comments
The cutting of limbs rule makes sense
as with people portraits, if you must crop do so above the elbows or knees
