Bar-tailed Godwit skims a tidal pool next to Brisbane Airport…​

Nudgee Beach, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, QLD, AU

The dark streaks are exposed seagrass, cropped short by dugongs (similar to manatees). It was in this tidal pond that a Pied Oystercatcher found an Elegant Sea Snake about forty minutes before this photo was taken(click for photo).

The image was severely cropped in ‘post’; had that happened in-camera, I guess I could’ve claimed an exaggerated ‘effective’ focal length!

Anyway, it’s always fun to be out on the tidal flats just after sunrise.
