Fox laying low

I captured this image of the fox in Victor, Idaho. I am not sure what kind of a fox it is. It doesn't look like a red fox, and there are black foxes on the San Juan islands off the California coast, but this is pretty far from California. Anyone have a guess? Thanks, Ken
