Freewell filters

Came across a couple of videos that were doing comparos on the Freewell variable ND filters...also got a "hit" from Adorama recently that they are doing a pre-order on them as well.

While it looks like these are the cat's meow for video, anyone have any experience with them on a DSLR? Hype? Or are they as good or better than some of the other brands that are out there, some less expensive and some at 2-4x the cost of the Freewells?

Cheers, and a Happy New Year to one and all!

I did a little looking around and it seems they are out of Hong Kong. They make filters for drones, probably where they started. Many of their filters are "magnetic" meaning no threads. Easier to take on and off? Sure, but they also fall off or get knocked off easier. The variable ND is threaded, but one thing that concerns me is the price is the same across many sizes. Raises a red flag as all the good filter makes (and even some not so good ones) have variable pricing that increases with size (makes sense, more glass=more $$).
I'm not sure about color cast, one of the more important aspects of a ND.
I'd want to see some independant tests specifically for color cast before handing over my money. While it's not a lot of $$ I hate to buy something and throw it away.
I have a couple of Breakthrough ND's, they don't make a variable ND. I had read some things a few years back about the variable ND's and decided to just have a couple of regular ones. They serve fine for my use, I can use one or the other or both. I have a bit more invested than this Freewell but I know the optics are top notch and there isn't any color cast. I prefer quality over convenience. YMMV.
