Shot with the Nikon D5 + 800mm 5.6e. I like the colors in this image but wonder if the background is too distracting?

IMO it is. Maybe a little blur to soften it up.

I agree with Grumpy (not that I think Grumpy is grumpy ). The background is also vibrant - perhaps desaturate and darken the green a bit.

I suppose that I knew the answer without asking, thanks for confirming my impression of the background.
