I found him (or her) first sitting on a rock in a small lake in New Jersey while I was kayaking. Because it was the first time in the kayak this season I didn't bring the camera, but only binoculars. After quite some time, I made it back to shore, let my daughter paddle around a bit, and he was still sitting on that rock. So I grabbed my camera and went back out. Suddenly he started left the rock, flew for a bit and then swam around on the lake. So this was shot from the kayak with a Nikon D500 (crop sensor) and the 200-500 at 500mm, 1/800s f5.6 ISO 250. The image is further cropped a good amount.
