Excellent shot...but with the black legs instead of the yellow green ones your ID should be Great Egret instead of Great White Heron. Great shot regardless though.

Yeah...me too. I’m always getting those two mixed up so had to check Peterson’s...again...to make sure. I even gave myself a new nemory aid for these two...the one with white in the name doesn’t ha ve black legs. I got a very similar shot out in thepond behind our lanai in North Fort Myers the other day...but had to crop in since I had the 18-300 lens on and not the 150-600 Which is on the tripod in the corner of the den. I’ve ordered myself a carbon monopod and the Wimberley monogimbal head and am going to switch to that for primary long lens support...keeping the tripod for landscapes and waterfalls.

To my knowledge, the only White Heron is a regional morph in one area of Florida. That is a Great Egret.
