These shots were all taken at Great Falls National Park in Virginia, about 20 miles from Washington, D.C. I did not have a tripod, but I still wanted to get the milky water effect, so I used rocks, railings or tree stumps as a rest for the camera. Most of these shots are at 1/4, 3/10 or 1/5 of a second “hand-held” with no exposure delay or timer, just a very steady hand and slow even pressure on the shutter release (not back button). The upstream kayaker is at 1/15 and the two at or in the falls are at 1/50 second.
The water is a little bit blown out, because I did not have any CP or ND filters with me (It was a last minute decision to go, and I didn’t know the conditions ahead of time). I was at base ISO of 64 and at f22 (the smallest aperture available on the lens). I was using a Z8 with a Nikkor 24-70 2.8E ED VR with an FTZII adapter. I had never shot this lens on my Z8 before, and it made for some really great and sharp shots. I think probably even better then when mounted on my D850. I am sure the Z version of the 24-70 is even better, but for now the f mount version will have to do.
Hope you like them. Ken
