Taken a few months ago at a local public gardens.

The last pic was the last I saw of the duck. It dived under the overhanging vegetation of the bank on the right. The Heron patrolled for a while but I didn't see it locate the duck again. Dunno if it survived. Watched the encounter for about 20 minutes.

Thanks. I thought the duck was dead for the amount of time it's head seemed to be down the Herons throat but it managed to swim away.

That's pretty insane. I've spent more time photographing GBH than any other bird, and I've never seen anything like that! Wow. Great job capturing these shots!

Thanks. The Grey Heron is our (UK) slightly smaller cousin of your GBH.

Totally agree, they are monsters. Great subjects to photograph but boy they'll have a go at any thing. Quite brutal.

R6 and RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM. Taken last July.

Are you tempted with the new 200-800? It's not out in the UK yet. Seems decent. Dunno if I'll get one as I now have the R7 and already have an 800mm f/11 which has it's place.

Interesting. I've heard/seen reports of them eating rats and baby ducks/birds but never an adult bird. TFS.

I was looking at the 200-800 just this morning. It's pretty nice but I can't afford anything like that right now, maybe later. I never have bought a 1.4 TC for my Tamron 150-600 so I might do that first and see how I like that. I'm curious as to why you chose to buy an R7 right after the R6. PM me.
