Grey Duiker, Sylvicapra grimmia, is one of Africa's most widely distributed antelopes. They are challenging subjects to photograph; even in national parks., they are highly alert and quick to dive into cover. They are a tenacious species, and populations persist even close to human settlements. Here follows a a few images I've taken over the past couple of months, in the Cape Winelands, where pairs survive in the few remaining strips and patches of uncultivated renosterveld and in the riparian thickets and treeline fringing the rivers.
Compared against the excellent D850 (and other Nikon cameras) I find the D5 a major advantage to switch to faster shutter speed for the action if such subjects suddenly leap into action (using Recall Shooting Functions)
