Thank you, Callie. The yard where this was photographed had a good number of these butterflies, so I did have many chances. which certainly helps.The skill, time and luck that goes with this . . . and it paid off beautifully. One of the most difficult subjects to try to nail! Excellently done
Thank you. 400mm, F8, 1/5000, ISO 2500. Settings were for shooting hummingbirds in flight, but worked well for this when I got the opportunity. Was shooting butterflies in between opportunities for Lucifer Hummingbird feeding on flowers.Perfect! What a beauty! What settings etc. did you use?

Icarus I have this thing that both antennae being sharp, you have achieved this admirably plus the eyes and proboscis in FLIGHT! Brilliant shot.

Likely spot. That's usually what I use photographing hummers inflight backing away from flowers.For focus group or spot?
