The recent discussion of the Z8+FTZII+200mm f/4 Micro combo reminded me of this shot from last summer that seems appropriate for Halloween. It was taken handheld, resting the camera on the wood in front of the wasp, and using focus peaking to achieve reasonably fast manual focus. This technique resulted in many, many discarded shots with only an occasional keeper, but it was lots of fun spending time with such attractive wasps. Cicada killers have benign personalities (unless you're a cicada), so we got along well and I learned a great deal from them.
