Heavy duty tripod vs video tripod which one?

I use a rollei rock solid alpha al mark iii brand heavy duty tripod (40kg carrying capacity) and a manfrotto mvh 502ah video head. There is always a question in your mind. What will the video tripod gain me if I buy a video tripod instead of the tripod I am currently using? Most video tripods on the market weigh the same as my heavy duty tripod, and if I want, I can add weight to my tripod with a few sandbags.

For use in video or photography?

To use in both cases
I don't know anything about Rollei except its price point, BUT you're probably fine and staying with tripods in this price range probably won't improve your results. If you find that you need a tripod for video with more torsional rigidity you need to move up to the next class of dedicated, "bowl-style" sticks and upgrade you're head as well.

Most sub $1,000 tripods marketed as video tripods are just glorified photography tripods, which are fine for most purposes (unless you pan a lot).

I've been using Rollei for 1 year now and I'm quite happy with it, but I don't think most video tripods can come close to these levels. Am I wrong about this?

It looks like a very nice tripod and the Manfrotto 502 is one of the best flat-base fluid heads on the market. Unless you notice that the tripod "twists" when you pan it, and adjusting the drag doesn't resolve that issue, I wouldn't waste money on a new one. In general, all you want a tripod in video is to be rigid, most if not all of the work is done by the head.

Thank you so much
