I ran into a few dragonflies again during my evening walk.
This time they are "Heidelibelle" common darter.
This was during my test run of my first 180-600 which I later sent back.

I replaced it because the image quality and resolution was worse than my old 200-500.
Too many microstructures were lost and the difference was visible from a 70% view of my Zfc.
So no pixel peeping at 200-300%
And this despite the fact that the test by Camaralab or YouTubers like Ricci Talks clearly showed that it has to be better than the 200-500.
After another 2 months of waiting, I got the new 180-600 2 weeks ago and it is now really sharper than my old 200-500

I like my 180-600 after using it birding one time but it will play second fiddle to my Z800. That's the way it should be. The 800 is a phenomenal lens in terms of speed, IQ, size, VR, etc. and the 180-600 is a great compliment when 800 is too long.

Looking at these images they don't appear to be "soft" rather it seems you were shooting near MFD and the camera was focusing on something else than your intended target. The first image of the DF, the tail appears to be the focal point. In the second image, the flower appears to be in focus...
