Helicoil Repair on Tripod Collar

Has anyone had any experience repairing a tripod collar helicoil?

One of them has become damaged on one of my heavier lenses.

Update: I put a new helicoil insert in. 3mm. Expect more quality than aluminum considering the price tag.

Depending on the thread dia, if it's 1/4 UNC..... then ream and thread it for 3/8" UNC to take a brass or stainless insert, with its inner threaded for 1/4". Some of the integral tripod feet for exotic Nikkor telephotos have a special SS part with a threaded inner, but this will need some machining to adapt to a standard tripod foot

Usually a Kirk foot is sold with a brass 3/8" adapter that screws in to fit 1/4". Some of the chinese tripod heads also have similar 3/8" > 1/4" but they are not always brass, usually Al
