Took these yesterday to try out the Fuji 80mm macro with the 1.4x attached. Thought it might let me stand back a bit (which it does). I can ID the hoverfly but none of my references include the fly in the second shot. Any experts out there?

According to iNaturalist, it appears to be a fly in the Tachinid family - looks like it might be Tachina fera. Doesn't seem to have a common name ...

JM, looks to me you have it. Apparently very common in the UK. Possibly too common to be included in my limited reference sources. Thanks for the info.
