Help D850 Live view

I checked on my D850 and when I turn it on I get the red square but it does not go green for focus until I touch the release button. I would check the LV still modes in the menu..is it doing video which would require continuous AF ?There is a mode called
AF-F check the screen for that .

In fact, this is a bug (too bad it is not fixed). I translated Steve's training (I am francophne and I do not speak English well) and I found after almost 300 pages of translation 3 lines indicating the problem. AF On inoperative, a shame .... In short, forced to work in touch (it actually works well but when you have a D810, a D7100 and a D5300 it becomes difficult to adapt). If, I did not understand correctly, that is to say to me, I could have passed something.

Hi Capelle, I too have this issue on my D850. After reading your comments, I went to Steve's Secrets to the Nikon Autofocus System e-book. It took a bit of searching, but take a look at Live View AF-F (on pg 152, although it might be a different page on your translated version?). It describes what you and I are seeing. Change from AF-F to AF-S and the annoying AF hunting goes away. Steve - as usual - does a great job of explaining what's happening and why it might be useful.
