Yesterday, my morning outing was overtaken by some very thick fog. I didn't see much, but I did like this shot of a Great Blue Heron sitting on the edge of a lake. Although there's nothing exciting happening, it gives me "moody" vibes. What do you guys think?

I think you could be correct….I also debated on cropping a little more off of the left side.
I don't know that the left side needs cropped as the bird is already left of center......and cropping the left would leave even more "empty space" between the bird and the right side. I would crop the top right at the top of the tree on the left.

Maybe something like this in a 2x3 aspect ratio?

When I first saw your image, and before I scrolled down and saw Karen's reply, my thoughts mirrored hers. I also agree with her comments on the position of the GBH.

I actually like the original. Gives me more of a feeling of solitude.

I like the peaceful vibe and the repeated light and dark pattern from the trees in the distance. The muted colors are really nice. I would try to keep the vertical format but maybe switch to 4 to 5 ratio and crop the bottom some and also use the remove tool to turn some of that out of focus stuff on the bottom into water and grass.
