Capturing this photo was a bit of a fluke. It is one of a short series I took (single-shot mode) of this Great Blue Heron shortly after it took off. These days I try to take photos mostly when I think there is an interesting background. I think the mountains made a nice background. Thankfully, the heron obliged by flying in front of them.
