Sunset Dam is ± 250 m from Lower Sabie camp and always good for hippos and crocs. On this late afternoon, a hippo mom and calf were playing kiss-kiss for about an hour. She had some nice displays showing off her dental works; the calf is dwarfed by her massive head and mouth.
This is not the same hippo posted here.

Hippo teeth display

The bridge over the Sabie River at lower Sabie is a wonderful place to observe all sorts of animals and birds. We sat late one afternoon and observed the hippos mouthing, submerging and honking. We love the sound of a hippo honk choir!
