Following a "wake" of Gryphon Vultures feeding on a carcass (posted 28/11/23 --- Gryphon Vultures --- Gatecrashing the Party) I was amazed to see a Golden Eagle swooping onto the site after the Vultures had left.
Obviously this crafty bird had been watching the Vultures feasting, and when they had all gone, had decided to do a flypast in case there were any left overs.
Quickly spotting a discarded bit of offal, it zoomed in to pick it off before any of the other scavengers in the area, Jays, Ravens and a solitary Fox , got hold of it.
With pin point accuracy it extended its fearsome talons to secure the target.
With the meat well held, it powered away to enjoy it's "hit and run" reward in a nearby tree.
