Thanks Rassie. You are definitely correct, two more frames into this burst and you would never know the crab was there.Nice capture! I think the merganser will win this tussle.

Thanks Robin, I was a little surprised myself. There is an estuary near my home that these guys love, and if you sit still on the shore long enough they will pop up from their dive very close to you. The challenge is that you never know where they are going to appear and since they are so close they immediately turn around.Nice interesting shot never realised mergansers ate crabs .
Our Red -breasted Mergansers are mainly coastal So don’t get to see them very often, we only see the beautiful Hooded Merganser in Wildfowl parks.
