How to undo BBAF on D7100

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Went ahead and assigned the AE-L/AF-L button on my D7100 to AF-ON. Am not sure I like using BBAF and want to know how to undo the assignment and revert back to locking focus by pressing the shutter release button. Similar request for my D850, how do I get it back to depressing the shutter release half way to lock focus? Thanks

None of the options available has returned the focus function back to the shutter release button. This is getting very irritating.
If all else fails perform a complete reset of all custom settings. You'll lose any custom settings that you actually want to keep and will have to go in and restore those settings but it should take care of any custom settings that are preventing normal AF operation from being tied to the shutter release.

- Press the menu button
- Select the Pencil icon
- Choose the top menu item: Reset Custom Settings
- Select YES
- Press OK

No, I do not have the MB-D15 whatever that is. Nothing happens when I select other options from the f4 menu. I did find out that in Live View for video only the shutter release button will bring the image into focus; the AE-L/AF-L does not give focus lock in live view video mode.
