three photos of same hummingbird. Every time I would walk away from my rig he would fly in and either perch or start feeding and when I would (trying to look casual) walk back over to my rig he would fly off; scolding me as only a hummingbird can. This went on for a while then suddenly he got all cooperative and this is the best of what he let me do...

Thank you. How does one tell if a hummingbird is immature?
Those little red feathers at his throat and starting on top of his head are the beginnings of what will be a full red throat and top of head. There's some good hummingbird books on ID available if you're interested. :) This is a young male, a young female and adult female would look similar, sans red feathers, except maybe a tiny amount on center of throat.
