In Alaska the common term for pink salmon is "humpy". This due to the pronounced curve in the back that develops when the fish start the journey up rivers/streams to spawn.
1) At lower left of frame in this image you can see the curved back of a fish sticking out of the water betraying its presence.
2) In this frame again you can see the backs of two humpies just in front of the bear.
3) The bear reaches out to pin the fish with its claws.
4) A good look at a humpy. The distorted dorsal area, the green color, and the hooked upper jaw all develop during the spawn. When they are in the ocean they are very streamlined, bullet shaped, silver colored fish. They are referred to as "bright" before they begin the metamorphosis.
