It was probably the most challenging bird I’ve photographed. It seemed to be constant moving through the forest, stopping briefly for nectar from flowers. Even at 20 fps there was a lot of movement between shots.Beautiful bird. Does a lot of jumping?

Thanks Elsa! I’d seen pictures of them and wanted to see one. It took several hikes in native forests on the volcano (~5,000-6,000 ft) before I was lucky enough to find one.never seen that in my life - funny looking birdie - but that a joy to see. Beautifully captured
