With a raw file that was taken on a Canon dslr without GPS facility is there a way to see its location on a map? Thanks in advance.

No. You'd have to manually find the location yourself.

IF you already know the location, and just want to put a pin on a map, you can definitely add the coordinates to the metadata of the image and then open the image with a software editor that includes a places or locations display.
Also, I don't remember the exact input commands, but Google has a routine, perhaps "compare photos" or "search photos" in which you can invoke the algorithm, upload a photo and it'll look for similar ones. One of those might have the location if you don't already know it.
