I love the way your thoughts ;) are roaming.
I was out for a ride on my ebike, hence plenty of time for 'thoughts' to rattle around under my bike helmet (never know when I'll wobble off).

Anyway, right next to the Moreton Bay Cycleway, I spied a few Pied Stilts doing whatever it is that stilts do in areas we once referred to as ‘swamps’ or, gasp, ‘bogs’.

Fortunately, my camera with 100–500 attached was stowed in the bike's handlebar bag. All I had to do was pull off the trail (easy), get off the monster (not so easy) and toddle across to the swamp, all the while hoping not to disturb the resident Red-bellied Black Snakes. With the benefit of hindsight, it would seem preferable to have moved clumsily in order to have alerted said reptiles to my progress through their domain.

That is is one mean, bicycle, David. And you can park it anywhere. 😊 Brisbane / Gold Coast have such a wonderful variety of habitats and placed where you can go and shoot.
I saw a Beach Stone Curlew this trip at Paradise Point.
I have seen, briefly, a Red-bellied Snake on a previous visit - still got to photograph one of your snakes.
Interestingly, your bog or swamps are our wetlands. Enjoy the freedom you have to shoot realy anywhere.
