Attached is a 50% crop of a shot taken @ F/6.3 (FF equ. 12.6). However The image was processed in Topaz Photo AI with the new gigapixel 8 software. I opened the file directly in Topaz, applied denoise and sharpening per the Topaz recommendations, then resized to 2X because that would be roughly equivalent to a 45mp image. I saved as a .dng, then opened in Photoshop Camera Raw, applied "lens blur" to reduce the apparent F/stop then opened in OM-1 and applied Brilliance AI to the subject. The .psd result was 6183mp x 4858mo @ 300 dpi, a 172mb file. I had to both resize and set the jpg too low to post but this is the result.

To make lens blur work properly I used the focus brush to brush in focus to the subjecty. You can see where I did not do this to a wing tip but I will obviously fix.

What does everyone think?

Nice action shot of that stilt coming in for a landing. The tones look good. The black in the wings could perhaps be lifted a bit. The processing steps don't mean much to me as I'm unable to see what you started with. What does 50% crop mean? 50% of the pixels? If so, then wouldn't the FF effective aperture be f/25? It's hard to evaluate a pic on the web. As posted, it's a bit more than 3 mp.

I started with 20.4mp. The crop was about 50% of the Full Frame. However, I was upscale 2x before cropping using gigapixel 8. Unfortunately, I had to both reduce the size and set the jpeg quality to low in order to get a file I was able to post.

Nice shot but just a facebook post.

The crop was about 50% of the Full Frame....
That is ambiguous. 50% linear or 50% of the area?

Linear means cropping 50% of the horizontal and 50% of the vertical dimensions.
New dimensions are 2592 x 1944 px, which is 5 MP.

Area means cropping 50% of the pixels (or area).
New dimensions are 3666 x 2749 px, which is 10 MP.

But it's OK, it's is not important (for me), because I can't follow your processing steps (don't have your original or software).

The main thing I notice is how the blacks in the underside of the wings are totally lost with zero texture or detail, which to me is not appealing. Not sure where in your process that happened or if it could have been avoided.

I agree with Bill above in Post #6. In addition, the tips of both wings seem to need a bit of clean up.

Regarding file size, not sure why it is so important that it drives your processing............. Personally, I appreciate the larger file sizes.
