Over the past two weeks Junior has progressed from a chick whose head barely rose above the nest to being able to fly
Kayaking on Miller Creek to this nest provides a fairly good viewing
Two days ago the nest appeared empty but about 50 yards upstream Junior and Mom were perched on a dead tree with Junior crying out for help
Mom flew off but Junior stayed and just eyed me
Junior decided it was time to fly and started to flap his wings but instead just jumped to another spot to face away from me
I waited to see if he would fly but eagles can sit for a long time and I finally moved on
Junior was god from the dead tree when I returned an hour or so later but I found him back at the nest in the pine tree
I will visit the nest again in a couple of days but I a guessing Junior will be gone
