Wild models, as we all know, do not necessarily oblige the whim of the photographer. We shoot from our vehicles in all our South African Parks; you are not allowed to leave the car except at picnic areas and these are few and far between in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Here are a few faces, as I prefer to call them. Sometimes, the environmental shots I now prefer to take, just cannot convey the character of the King of the beasts.

Shaking is head after a third of an eland went down his gullet.
The biggest young male we have ever seen. There were three brothers, all massive, recently driven out from their pride. Give them a few years, and they will be the new kings.
