Super cool shot. I see your focal length was only 93mm and you were shooting from a tripod. Did you specifically set up at this location and distance because the Kingfisher is frequently at this particular location? Ken

Outstanding.
Glad you like it. Thanks so much !!

Yes. I set up the camera and sat about 25meters behind with a wireless remote. After a filling a card with missed shots, this was one of the few that I could keep.

Amazing shot!
Question; Was the captured fish held in a small containment area just below the surface ?
Maybe at a commercial Kingfisher photography facility as they have in the U.K. Which one ?

The picture is absolutely fantastic (why is this in the critique forum -- there is nothing to "critique!"). I'd print this and put it on my wall. Actually, I'd probably hang a picture this good on a wall in every room of my house (I exaggerate ... slightly).

But I am curious how, even over a long period of time, you could have the Z8 in the right spot to grab this shot.

I see Belted kingfishers now and again, and it would be the wildest of luck if I had a camera in a spot to catch a shot like this, even if I sat there for days. Was it pre-focused on a spot so all you had to do was trip the shutter ... when the bird happened to be in that spot?
