Despite the warming temperatures, there is still evidence of the great ice sheets of the past in the form of glaciers --- although many of these have dramatically retreated over the last 20 years.
Here are two views of the Kongsbreen Glacier from Ny Alesund on Spitzberg , taken this August. It is one of the most active "calving" glaciers in the Svalbard Archipelago.

Nice shots and interesting story. Are both shots at 200mm?
Thanks Malcolm, and yes they both were at the shortest end of my 200-600 lens --- the scenery here is immense and although I also had the 16-35 with me I wanted to focus in slightly on the glacier itself.
